STAR Week is a USIC tradition dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the employees who make a difference every day. It's a chance to show appreciation for the hard work, dedication, and commitment that our teams bring to their roles while coming together to celebrate the people behind our success. Through recognition, team events, and a little fun along the way, STAR Week helps strengthen the sense of pride, connection, and appreciation that makes USIC a great place to work.
When I joined USIC in 2023 there was already a recognizable logo connected to this event. Unfortunately, after Star Week 2025, I noticed a near identical logo on a local building. I later learned that we’d used an agency to create ours and they had copied another companies design. After this I worked with our employee engagement team to create an updated logo that properly represented our brand identity.

I worked closely with our Employee Engagement team to develop a logo that reflected the spirit of STAR Week while addressing a challenge they had encountered in previous years. Although STAR Week had traditionally been viewed as a USIC event, employees from the other companies within the family of brands—Blood Hound, Reconn, and On Target—often felt somewhat disconnected from the celebration. As the team worked toward making the 2026 event more inclusive, I saw an opportunity to reinforce that message visually.
From the outset, I felt it was important to incorporate colors from each brand into the design. Beyond creating a more vibrant and energetic visual identity, this approach symbolized the unity of the entire family of companies and emphasized that STAR Week is a celebration for everyone. I integrated these colors into individual segments of the star motif, allowing each brand to contribute to a larger, cohesive symbol. The upward movement of the star was intentionally designed to evoke a sense of momentum, growth, and achievement, while subtly referencing the company tagline, "Leading From the Ground Up." The result is a mark that celebrates both individual identities and the collective success of the organization.
