Snaps Family Restaurant
Menu Redesign
Menu Redesign
The previous menus were designed around 2014, and while they served their purpose, they no longer reflected the quality or character of the restaurant. This redesign was an opportunity to modernize the experience without losing the personality that generations of customers have come to know. Rather than starting over, the goal was to refine what already existed and create a menu that felt cleaner, easier to navigate, and more inviting.
Since Snaps has been welcoming guests since 1872, preserving that sense of history was just as important as improving the design. I kept the warm, earthy color palette and subtle vintage-inspired textures to reference the building's long history, while introducing a stronger typographic hierarchy and a more organized layout that makes the menu easier to read. Those updates allow the food to take center stage while giving the restaurant a more polished, contemporary presentation.
One element that was especially important to preserve was the restaurant's alligator mascot. The original artwork file had become corrupted over the years, so I completely redrew the illustration. Recreating it allowed me to retain an iconic part of the brand while producing artwork that was clean, scalable, and ready for future use across print and digital applications.
Ultimately, the redesign was about respecting the restaurant's legacy while giving it a fresh presentation for today's customers. The finished menus feel familiar to longtime guests, but with improved readability, consistency, and a visual identity that better reflects the quality and history of one of Jasper's oldest restaurants.
